Enriched by Difference, a Study of the Enduring Religions of the World.
One of the things we most fear is the stranger. At most times in human history, most people have lived among people who are pretty much the same as themselves. Today you can walk down the average main street of any city and you will encounter in ten minutes more anthropological diversity than an 18th-century traveler would have encountered in a lifetime.  Our lives can be enlarged and enriched by the people who are different from us, rather than be threatened by them. This sense can be cultivated and would lead us to see the 21st century as full of blessing, not full of fear.  The religions to be explored are Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and the Primal Religions.

Explore the Bible: 1 Samuel
Beheadings! Greedy, immoral priests! Witchcraft! Murder and intrigue at the highest levels of government! Can you believe these stories are a part of Scripture? They’re here, and sadly, they represent real life in the time of Samuel. Everyone did whatever they wanted—long before that became a modern slogan. Yet God was there too. In one of the darkest periods of Israel’s history, God was working to bring about humanity’s salvation. He quietly gave a desperate, praying, childless woman a son named Samuel, who grew up to become one of the greatest prophets, prayer warriors, and kingmakers in Israel. God then used Samuel to call out a shepherd boy, David, to become Israel’s most beloved king. In all of this, God was pointing to the time He would send His Son, Jesus, to be our Savior and King.
